ABOUT THE MEETING:

Senate Bill 522, also known as “Donna’s Law,” allows Georgia citizens with suicidal ideations to place themselves on the FBI’s NICS Firearms Checks list to protect themselves. The law is named for Donna Nathan, who after suffering bipolar disorder for 30 years, tragically ended her own life after purchasing a firearm. If passed, Georgia would become the fourth state to pass a law of this nature. With concerns over rising suicide rates in the state and a nationwide mental health crisis, Senators Parent and Harrell filed SB 522 to prevent people who are suffering from making impulsive decisions.
