ATLANTA (March 5, 2026) — Georgia has been named a “Rising Star” in the Childhood Index, a newly released national ranking from the Anxious Generation Movement that evaluates how well states are protecting children and supporting healthy childhood development in the digital age. Georgia earned the Rising Star designation for its growing efforts to address the impact of online platforms on young people and to create healthier environments for children both online and in school.

Sen. RaShaun Kemp Introduces Resolution Urging Accountability for Federal Immigration Detention Facilities

ATLANTA (March 2, 2026) — Sen. RaShaun Kemp (D–Atlanta) recently introduced Senate Resolution 810 to emphasize the importance of transparency, community engagement, environmental stewardship and congressional oversight related to the proposed development or expansion of federal immigration detention facilities in Georgia. This measure aims to build on the federal efforts of U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA), who filed an amendment that would block the purchase of warehouses to be used as detention centers in Social Circle and Oakwood, Georgia.

Minority Leader Harold Jones II Applauds Advancement of Legislation to Modernize Discovery in Misdemeanor Cases

ATLANTA (March 2, 2026) — Last week, Senate Bill 202 passed out of the Senate Committee on Judiciary. Sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Harold Jones II (D–Augusta), this measure aims to modernize Georgia’s discovery process in misdemeanor criminal cases by allowing defendants to opt into a reciprocal discovery system similar to the one already used in felony cases.
