ATLANTA (May 30, 2024) – Today, Sen. Sally Harrell (D–Atlanta) announced that she secured a $250,000 grant for Clubhouse Atlanta at their open house event for supporters and members. Clubhouse Atlanta provides an evidence-based supportive program that helps individuals living with mental illness recover, come to terms with their illness, find social connections and build self-confidence to lead productive lives.

Senators Elena Parent and Sally Harrell to Hold Press Conference on Legislation to Establish Voluntary “No Sell” Firearms List

ATLANTA (March 12, 2024) — Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13th, Democratic Caucus Chair Sen. Elena Parent (D–Atlanta) and Sen. Sally Harrell (D–Atlanta) will hold a press conference to discuss Senate Bill 522, also known as Donna’s Law. Senators Parent and Harrell will be joined by Chelsea Piatt from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Dr. Peter Ash from Emory University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The press conference will follow a hearing on the measure in the Senate Committee on Public Safety.

Georgia Women’s Legislative Caucus Honors 31 Women with 2024 Nikki T. Randall Servant Leader Award

Sen. Sally Harrell Files “Georgia Good Faith Grant Act” Comprehensive Needs-Based Scholarship to Expand Access to Higher Education

ATLANTA (March 6, 2024) – Today, Sen. Sally Harrell (D–Atlanta) announced a bipartisan effort to expand access to post-secondary education for Georgia students. Senate Bill 526, the “Good Faith Grant Act,” co-sponsored by Chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education Sen. Billy Hickman (R–Statesboro) and Sen. Sally Harrell (D–Atlanta), creates a comprehensive needs-based scholarship program for Georgia students that qualify for college admissions, but might not qualify for the Hope Scholarship. Georgia is one of just a few states that does not have a needs-based scholarship program.
