Senator Harold Jones Appointed to the Senate Study Committee on Foster Care and Adoption

ATLANTA (May 15, 2023) | On Wednesday, May 10, Democratic Whip Senator Harold Jones (D – Augusta) was appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones to serve on the 2023 Senate Study Committee on Foster Care and Adoption.

“I am honored to serve as a member of the Senate Study Committee on Foster Care and Adoption,” said Sen. Jones. “The Senate body worked incredibly hard during the 2023 Legislative Session to address the persistent issues plaguing our state’s foster care and adoption systems. By holding meetings and learning from experienced professionals and our constituents, we will be well-equipped to further address these problems. I am grateful to Lt. Governor Burt Jones for prioritizing our state’s children by digging into the issue and I am eager to work with my colleagues on this committee.”

The Senate Study Committee on Foster Care and Adoption was established by the passage of Senate Resolution 282 during the 2023 Legislative Session. The committee is comprised of eight additional members who will be tasked with holding meetings around the state. Dates and locations of the meetings will be announced at a later time.
