Minority Leader Harold Jones II Applauds Advancement of Legislation to Modernize Discovery in Misdemeanor Cases

ATLANTA (March 2, 2026) — Last week, Senate Bill 202 passed out of the Senate Committee on Judiciary. Sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Harold Jones II (D–Augusta), this measure aims to modernize Georgia’s discovery process in misdemeanor criminal cases by allowing defendants to opt into a reciprocal discovery system similar to the one already used in felony cases.
