Sen. Emanuel Jones Urges Governor Kemp to Remove Remaining Members of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics

ATLANTA (March 17, 2023) | Yesterday, Senator Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur), requested the assistance of Gov. Kemp in the removal of the two remaining members and two alternate members of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics. Five members of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics have previously resigned due to ongoing internal disagreements.

“I call upon Gov. Kemp to assist me in the removal of the remaining members of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics,” said Sen. Jones. “This is an urgent matter that needs to be addressed. I believe it is in the best interest of the citizens of DeKalb County to remove these remaining members and reconstitute a new board. I am hopeful that this call to action will lead to definitive change and positive results. As I have said before, DeKalb County is better than this!”

The call to action followed the formal petition filed by the former Chair of the Dekalb County Ethics Board, Alex Joseph, which further called upon the Governor to take action. The 84-page petition was filed under the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O. C. G. A.) 45-10-3, which lays out a code of ethics for members of all boards in the state of Georgia. The petition cites violations of that code as grounds for removal of the current board members
