Minority Leader Harold Jones II Issues Statement on Fulton County Case Dismissal

ATLANTA (November 26, 2025) — Today, Minority Leader Sen. Harold Jones II (D–Augusta) issued the following statement regarding Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s decision to dismiss the racketeering case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis:

“I am deeply disappointed in today’s decision, which allows President Donald Trump to evade accountability for his clear violations of Georgia law. By dismissing this case, the court has enabled him and his co-conspirators to avoid responsibility for their coordinated effort to overturn Georgia’s election results and steal the 2020 election.

While this outcome is a setback for justice, it will not deter the Senate Democratic Caucus from doing the work Georgians expect of us. We will continue fighting every day to lower housing costs, reduce health insurance premiums and bring down grocery prices as families struggle through the affordability crisis created under Donald Trump’s leadership.

At a time when the majority remains consumed by pure politics, our focus remains on delivering real solutions for the people of Georgia.”
