ATLANTA (June 24, 2013) – Senator William Ligon (R-Brunswick) provides the following statement on the unanimous vote taken by the State Committee of the Georgia Republican Party passing the resolution opposing the “nationalized” Common Core Standards and the aligned PARCC tests. Sen. Hardie Davis Speaks Out on Augusta’s Homeless Population During “Journey of Community” Panel

ATLANTA (June 20, 2013) – Sen. Hardie Davis (D- Augusta) served as a panelist for an engaging discussion on both Augusta’s and Georgia’s homeless population, and also the area social service agencies dedicated to providing these individuals with much needed assistance. Entitled Homelessness in Georgia: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, and Where We Are Going, the panel was an integral part of the Greater Augusta Arts Council’s “Journey of Community” event. Sen. Ligon to Participate in Panel Discussion Confronting Common Core Curriculum Standards

ATLANTA (June 19, 2013) – Sen. William Ligon (R-Brunswick), the sponsor of legislation to withdraw Georgia from its participation in the Common Core State Standards Initiative and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) testing consortium, will participate in back-to-back “Confronting the Common Core” events open to the public this Friday night and again on Saturday morning.
