David Cook Sworn In as 43rd Secretary of the Georgia State Senate
ATLANTA (July 2, 2013) – David Cook, the former Commissioner of Community Health under Governor Nathan Deal, was sworn in this afternoon as the 43rd Secretary of the Georgia State Senate. Cook was appointed in early May to the position by Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer (R – Duluth) after an extensive search process. He succeeds the now-retired Bob Ewing. (June 25, 2013) – Senate Agriculture Chairman John Wilkinson (R-Toccoa) joined members of the Senate and House Agriculture Committee to meet newly appointed President of The University of Georgia (UGA), Jere Morehead, on Monday, June 24. Morehead was previously the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at UGA and will replace retiring UGA President Dr. Michael Adams beginning Monday, July 1.
