Women U.S. state legislators meet with women parliamentarians from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco and Tunisia in Ankara, Turkey to advance women’s leadership in conflict affected areas.

061713_Orrock_WiLLWANDTurkeyANKARA, TURKEY (June 18, 2013) – Senator Nan Orrock participated in an international exchange from May 27-May 31 as a member of a delegation of U.S. women legislators in the Women Legislators’ Lobby (WiLL) network, a program of Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND). Through WAND’s joint program with the EastWest Institute’s Parliamentarians Network for Conflict Prevention, U.S. legislators and women parliamentarians from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey gathered in Ankara for a peer-to-peer exchange focused on promoting women as agents of change in political life, conflict prevention, and peace-building. Sen. Josh McKoon Fights to Reinstate Wrestling as a Core Sport of the Summer Olympic Games

McKoonCraverCookFlattATLANTA (June 17, 2013) – Senator Josh McKoon (R- Columbus) presented adopted Senate Resolution 523 to urge the International Olympic Committee to reinstate wrestling as a core sport of the Summer Olympic Games to Anthony Flatt, Chairman of Team Georgia USA Wrestling.  Sen. Georgia Legislators Ask U.S. Sens. Chambliss, Isakson to Vote “No” on Federal Immigration Bill

ATLANTA (June 12, 2013) –Georgia Legislators urge  U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson to vote “no” on the proposed federal immigration bill currently being considered in the U.S. Senate. In a letter sent to Senators Chambliss and Isakson on Tuesday, Georgia State Senators, including Senate Judiciary Chairman Josh McKoon, outlined what they believe to be proactive solutions to U.S. immigration reform.
