ATLANTA (October 2, 2018) | The third meeting of the Senate Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Operations and Authority Creation Study Committee will be held TOMORROW, October 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in room 450 of the State Capitol.
Senate Resolution 882, sponsored by Sen. Burt Jones (R – Jackson), creates the Senate Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Operations and Authority Creation Study Committee. Sen. Jones will serve as chair of the 13 member committee. The study committee will review the possible transfer of operations of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to an authority in the interest of public welfare, national security and economic stability.
The study committee will review what federal laws and regulations must be utilized if the transfer to an airport authority moves forward. Committee members will also explore the feasibility of adding a secondary airport hub in Georgia over a 20-year period. The committee must report its findings on or before December 1, 2018.
