The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus and Chairwoman Sen. Tonya Anderson Oppose the Passage of Senate Bill 241

ATLANTA (March 10, 2021) | In response to the Georgia Senate adopting Senate Bill 241, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Chairwoman Senator Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia) issued the following statement:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus is on record in opposing Senate Bill 241, which is nothing more than a kneejerk reaction to the 2020 election. At a time when our focus should be on beating COVID-19, jumpstarting our economy and helping Georgians with the trauma caused by this pandemic, many of our colleagues choose to act irrationally and irresponsibly by attacking our electoral process.

Without a shred of evidence, bills such as SB 241 have been brought forth as a panacea to a sickness yet to be discovered. We intend to keep fighting to protect our Constitutional rights and call on all our allies in the private sector, public sector, at non-profits, and in the community to do the same. The clock will not turn back on our watch.”

Established in 1975, the GLBC is a 501(c)3 non-profit, nonpartisan organization comprising of 65 Georgia House and Senate members.
