The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus and Chairwoman Sen. Tonya Anderson Applaud the Passage of House Bill 479

ATLANTA (March 10, 2021) | In response to the Georgia House adopting House Bill 479, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chairwoman Senator Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia) issues the following statement:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus is on record in supporting House Bill 479, legislation that would end the practice of citizen’s arrest in Georgia. I am proud the House voted unanimously in favor of the measure. It is time we discontinue antiquated, outdated practices that do not reflect who we are as a state today.

Now it’s time for the Senate to act conscientiously on behalf of those we represent in the state Capitol. It is time to end citizen’s arrest in Georgia, period.”
