ATLANTA (January 18, 2023) | Last week, Sen. Jason Esteves (D – Atlanta) was sworn in by Georgia Supreme Court Justice Charlie Bethel to serve Senate District 6 in the Georgia State Senate, which includes portions of Fulton and Cobb County. Sen. Esteves will serve on the Senate Committees on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Children and Families, Finance, Interstate Cooperation, and State and Local Governmental Operations. Jan. 9, 2023, marked the beginning of his two-year term in the Georgia Senate and the official beginning of the 2023 Legislative Session.
“I am honored to serve the citizens of Senate District 6 along with the state of Georgia,” said Sen Esteves. “I am eager to tackle issues that are impacting our community, especially education, healthcare, housing, and economic opportunity. I will work tirelessly alongside my Senate colleagues to ensure we pass legislation that will ensure that the necessary legislation is passed to improve the livelihoods of all Georgians.”
Sen. Esteves was elected to his first Senate term on November 8, 2022. Sen. Esteves received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and his juris doctorate from Emory University’s School of Law. He is an active community member, serving as a board member of GALEO and the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Sen. Esteves also serves as the Treasurer of the Democratic Party of Georgia. He currently resides in Atlanta with his wife and two children.
