ATLANTA (June 10, 2013) –Senator Hunter Hill (R-Smyrna) was recently named “Freshman Legislator of the Year” by the Georgia Chamber – the state’s largest business advocacy organization dedicated to improving Georgia’s overall economic competitiveness through job creation and pro-business policies and initiatives.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award,” said Senator Hunter Hill. “I will continue to put Georgia’s businesses at the forefront of my decision making process on legislative initiatives. I look forward to continuing to work with the great people at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.”
Each year, the Georgia Chamber presents the “Freshman Legislator of the Year” Award to the legislator they deem most supportive of Georgia’s business community. During his first term as state senator, Hunter Hill served as Senate bill sponsor for several important measures including House Bill 188, which provided expedited licensing for qualified military veterans seeking work in our state and Senate Bill 179, which solidified Georgia’s right-to-work laws.
“As a business community, we cannot expect to grow and compete with other states and global markets without elected officials who are actively working to pass pro-business legislation,” said Steve Green, the Georgia Chamber’s 2013 Board Chair. “Georgia is fortunate to have a leader in Senator Hill who is committed to business growth and demonstrated that support through his votes in the Senate. He truly went above and beyond to strengthen Georgia’s competitiveness and we applaud him for his efforts.”
In addition to being recognized as “Freshman Legislator of the Year,” Senator Hill also earned an A+ Rating on the Georgia Chamber’s annual legislative scorecard which was released in May.
