Senator Billy Hickman Appointed to Senate Study Committee on Expanding Georgia’s Workforce

ATLANTA (May 25, 2023) | Yesterday, Senator Billy Hickman (R – Statesboro), was appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones to serve as a member on the 2023 Senate Study Committee on Expanding Georgia’s Workforce.

“I am honored to be able to serve as a member of this necessary study committee,” said Sen. Hickman. “Creating an educated and well-established workforce has been a priority of myself and the Senate Majority Caucus. To expand our workforce, we must analyze the current training and recruitment systems that are in place to determine how we can better nurture the backbone of Georgia’s vital industries. Education is a large part of this puzzle, and I look forward to building upon the foundation we laid during the 2023 Legislative Session to tackle this issue further.”

The 11-member study committee is comprised of legislative and non-legislative members. This committee was established through the passage of Senate Resolution 275, sponsored by Chairman of the Study Committee Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell), during the 2023 Legislative Session. The committee will be tasked with holding meetings across the state, with dates and locations to be announced at a later time.
