Sen. Billy Hickman Applauds Senate Passage of “Dignity and Pay Act”

ATLANTA (March 4, 2025) — Yesterday, Senate Bill 55, the “Dignity and Pay Act,” was passed out of the Senate with a vote of 51 to 3. This legislation now moves to the Georgia House of Representatives for further consideration. SB 55 would prevent companies from paying employees with disabilities a subminimum wage and give a timeline for companies currently paying less than minimum wage to follow in phasing out the practice.

Sen. Billy Hickman to Celebrate Georgia Reads Day at State Capitol

ATLANTA (February 24, 2025) — On Tuesday, February 25, at 12:00 p.m., Sen. Billy Hickman (R–Statesboro) will celebrate Georgia Reads Day with the Georgia Council on Literacy. Sen. Hickman will be joined by Georgia Reads Coach Malcolm Mitchell, Rep. Chris Erwin (R–Homer) and leadership from the Georgia Council on Literacy. The 2025 Georgia READBowl champions and the Georgia Reads Community Award winners will be recognized during the event.

Sen. Billy Hickman Applauds Lee Cromley’s Appointment to Georgia Farmland Advisory Council

ATLANTA (December 12, 2024) — Today, Sen. Billy Hickman (R–Statesboro) is pleased to announce that Lee Cromley, a family farmer from Bulloch County, has been appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones to serve on the Georgia Farmland Advisory Council. Sen. Hickman recommended Cromley for the position, citing his extensive experience and dedication to Georgia’s agricultural community.
