Senate Adopts Senate Resolution 323 to Improve Caregiver Services Across the State

ATLANTA (Jan. 25, 2024) – Yesterday, the Senate adopted Senate Resolution 323 with bipartisan support. SR 323, sponsored by Democratic Whip Sen. Harold Jones II (D-Augusta), would create a Senate Study Committee on Improving Caregiver Services to enhance caregiver services throughout the state of Georgia.

Sen. Jones expressed his satisfaction with the Senate’s decision to adopt SR 323 stating, “I am pleased to see this important piece of legislation adopted with bipartisan support. Family caregiving is a selfless act that deserves the full attention and support of the Georgia General Assembly. With over one million Georgians unexpectedly taking on the role of a family caregiver, it is critical to remain dedicated to enhancing caregiver services for families throughout Georgia. The adoption of SR 323 marks a substantial stride in this direction, propelling Georgia forward on the path of positive progress.”

The adoption of SR 323 will create a Senate Study Committee on Improving Caregiver Services, comprised of five members of the Senate to be appointed by the Lt. Governor. The members of the committee will undertake the study of the conditions, needs, issues and problems associated with improving caregiver services in the state.
