ATLANTA (August 6, 2013) – Sen. Ross Tolleson (R-Perry) was recently appointed to serve as the chairman of the Jekyll Island-State Park Authority Oversight Committee by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.
“The conservation and preservation of our coastal islands remains an important responsibility of Georgia’s environmental agencies and legislature,” said Sen. Tolleson. “I look forward to working with colleagues and the park authority to ensure one of our state’s greatest treasures is maintained for future generations to come.”
The Jekyll Island-State Park Authority Oversight Committee is responsible for reviewing the authority’s annual financial position and ensuring the authority’s statutory duties and functions are accomplished successfully and in accordance with Georgia law.
The committee is composed of three members of the House of Representatives and three members of the Senate. The Speaker of the House makes appointments for the House and the President of the Senate makes appointments for the Senate. The members of the committee serve two-year terms concurrent with their terms as members of the General Assembly.
