Sen. Michael Rhett Appointed to Serve on the Senate Development Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities Study Committee

ATLANTA (June 27, 2022) | Last week, Sen. Michael Rhett (D – Marietta) was appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Senate Development Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities Study Committee, created under Senate Resolution 809 during the 2022 legislative session.

“Development authorities deserve praise for playing such an important role at the local level,” said Sen. Rhett. “However, there are always areas of jurisdiction that would benefit from greater oversight and I look forward to ensuring that counties and cities in our state have the resources they need to succeed and grow. The creation of proper oversight mechanisms will better safeguard citizens and taxpayers from potential abuse. I am thankful to Lt. Governor Duncan for the honor to serve on this committee.”

The Senate Development Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities Study Committee is tasked with examining the impact and operation of development authorities throughout the state to identify any needed changes to ensure greater oversight and success in development.
