ATLANTA (September 3, 2022) | This week, Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Co-Hosted the annual Ag Issues Summit at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry.
“As Georgia’s top industry, it is important that everyone from lawmakers to farmers remain up to date on current trends and practices that could affect agriculture in Georgia,” said Sen. Walker. “I was immensely pleased with the record turnout at the 2022 Ag Issues Summit and am certain that all who attended are now better prepared to lead their operations successfully in the coming year and legislators are better equipped for the policy issues that could impact Georgia in the near future. Topics addressed at the summit included an update by Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, water infrastructure funding, an overview of the state-wide economic outlook for Georgia’s agricultural commodities, a discussion on Integrated Precision Agriculture and the work being advanced at the University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences to support it, a conversation on the complexities of heir property, and an update from the Unites States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
