ATLANTA (March 31, 2025) — Last week, the Senate unanimously passed House Bill 579, which broadly revises occupational licensing regulations in Georgia. This legislation is a result of the Joint Blue-Ribbon Committee on Licensing, upon which Sen. Walker served. It grants the professional licensing board division staff the ability to routinely issue licenses for the profession’s licensing boards when the applicant meets all license requirements. HB 579 also enables the division director to provisionally license an individual before they take their examination and extends the timetable for renewing licenses after they expire.

ATLANTA (May 6, 2024) – Today, Sen. Larry Walker III (R–Perry) expressed his gratitude for the signing of three critical pieces of legislation aimed at bolstering Georgia’s workforce. Senate Bill 354, Senate Bill 373 and Senate Bill 195, all sponsored by Sen. Walker, were signed into law by Governor Brian P. Kemp after receiving bipartisan support in the Georgia General Assembly.

ATLANTA (February 13, 2023) | Secretary of the Senate Majority Caucus, Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry), introduced Senate Bill 110, the “Back the Blue Act,” This legislation would provide financial support for Georgia’s sheriff’s departments by establishing a voluntary “check off” on auto insurance premium invoices to allow Georgians to conveniently donate $3 to local law enforcement. The donations would be collected by insurance companies, then remitted to the Georgia Department of Insurance. The Insurance Commissioner would then distribute the donations equally to the Sheriff of each county in Georgia.
