Sen. Derek Mallow Sworn In for a Second Term, Appointed Chief Deputy Whip

ATLANTA (January 22, 2025) — On Monday, January 13th,  Sen. Derek Mallow (D–Savannah) was sworn in under the Gold Dome to serve the 2nd Senate District for his second term. The Democratic Caucus also appointed Sen. Mallow to serve as Democratic Chief Deputy Whip.

“It’s an incredible honor to stand once again as the voice for Savannah and the 2nd Senate District,” said Sen. Mallow. “From strengthening our schools to creating opportunities for every family to thrive, I am ready to roll up my sleeves and keep fighting for Savannah’s future. I’m also humbled by my colleagues’ trust in me to serve as Chief Deputy Whip for the Senate Democratic Caucus. This role is about amplifying our collective voice and driving meaningful change. I am eager to get to work and make this term one to remember.”

Sen. Mallow represents the 2nd Senate District, which includes a portion of Chatham County. He is a member of the Senate Committees on Children and Families, Economic Development and Tourism, State and Local Governmental Operations and Transportation. Sen. Mallow will also serve as Secretary of the Senate Committee on Ethics.
