ATLANTA (August 6, 2021) | Today, Sen. Brandon Beach (R – Alpharetta) announced that he intends to prefile legislation for the upcoming 2022 legislative session that would prohibit any COVID-19 vaccine mandate or requirement that a receipt of having received a COVID-19 vaccine can be used as a condition of employment, admittance to a business, to attend a public school, or for other purposes to be outlined in the legislation.
“It should not be the place of any government or business to institute mandates that their employees or customers receive a COVID-19 vaccine or to provide proof of vaccination in order to receive a service,” said Sen. Beach. “As someone who has experienced the effects of COVID-19 first-hand, I fully support individuals’ ability to make their own choice whether or not to be vaccinated without penalty of losing their jobs or being denied service at a business. I am currently in the process of drafting legislation to prohibit this practice and ensure that no Georgian faces the decision of having to receive a vaccine or potentially lose their job or ability to do business with who they please.”
The period for senators to prefile legislation begins on November 15, 2021. Once prefiled, the legislation will be available to view on the Senate website here: https://www.legis.ga.gov/search?s=1029&cs=1&p=1
