ATLANTA (Aug. 5, 2021) | Sen. Sonya Halpern (D – Atlanta) has been appointed to serve on the Joint Study Committee on Airport Infrastructure and Improvements.
“Not many people know that Georgia has over 100 public airports, all of which are impacted by decisions we make at the legislature,” said Sen. Halpern. “These airports serve as critical economic drivers for regions all over the state and we have a responsibility to ensure they are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. I look forward to working with my fellow study committee members to determine the best path forward for Georgia’s air infrastructure industry.”
The Joint Study Committee on Airport Infrastructure and Improvements was created pursuant to Senate Resolution 84. Sen. Halpern joins Committee Chair Sen. Frank Ginn; Russell McMurray, commissioner of the Department of Transportation; Pat Wilson, commissioner of the Department of Economic Development; Chris Clark, president of Georgia Chamber; Robert Burr, president of Georgia Airports Association; Ken Warnock, CEO of Swainsboro/Emanuel County Chamber; Hope Macaluso of the Atlanta Regional Airport Falcon Field, as well as additional members of both the Georgia House and Senate and other state officials and industry experts.
