Georgia Senate and Georgia House Members Announce New Reproductive Freedom Legislation

ATLANTA (January 25, 2023) | Yesterday, members of the Georgia Senate and House joined Amplify Georgia, a coalition of reproductive justice organizations, to announce new legislation to restore and expand reproductive freedom in Georgia. Senate Bill 15, entitled the Reproductive Freedom Act (RFA), sponsored by Sen. Sally Harrell (D – Atlanta), will repeal HB 481 Georgia’s 6-week abortion ban and other restrictions on abortion care.

Sen. Nikki Merritt Elected Vice Chair of Georgia Legislative Black Caucus

ATLANTA (January 19, 2023) | Sen. Nikki Merritt (D – Grayson) has been elected Vice Chair of The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) is a bicameral and bipartisan body that works to “protect the general welfare of Black people and other people of color and disadvantaged citizens of Georgia in matters of health and welfare, education, social and criminal justice, employment and economic empowerment.”
