ATLANTA (February 16, 2023) | Today, Senator Sally Harrell (D – Atlanta) held a press conference with fellow legislators, self-advocates, concerned members of the public, family members and service providers for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The press conference announced the findings of the Senate Study Committee on People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Wavier Plan Access, chaired by Sen. Harrell and Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell), including a creation of the new Innovation Commission for Georgians and the next steps to take to further access to waivers and wages for Georgians with IDDs and their caregivers.

Legislators and Advocates to Hold Press Conference to Announce New Innovation Commission and Urge Action on Waivers and Wages for Georgians with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

ATLANTA (February 15, 2023) | Tomorrow, legislators, self-advocates, family members and service providers for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) will come together to announce the creation of a new Innovation Commission for Georgians and speak with one voice to urge Governor Kemp and the Georgia General Assembly to finish the work desperately needed to fully support the IDD community.

Sen. Greg Dolezal Passes His First Bill of the 2023 Legislative Session

ATLANTA (February 9, 2023) | On Tuesday, Senate Bill 1, sponsored by Chief Deputy Whip Sen. Greg Dolezal (R – Cumming), passed by substitute with a vote of 31-21. SB 1 would remove the June 30, 2023 sunset on the existing Georgia law that prohibits state and local governments and agencies from requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination to receive government services.
