The Senate Study Committee on Continual Audit Exceptions on Local School Systems to Meet in Perry

ATLANTA (September 28, 2018) | The Senate Study Committee on Continual Audit Exceptions on Local School Systems will hold their second meeting on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the board room of the Houston County Board of Education in Perry, Georgia.

Senate Resolution 1064, sponsored by Sen. Freddie Powell-Sims (D – Dawson), created the Senate Study Committee on Continual Audit Exceptions on Local School Systems. Sen. Sims serves as chair of the five-member study committee who will meet with local leaders, school officials and members of the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts to determine if and what corrective action should be considered for school systems who are not compliant with audit requirements. The study committee is responsible for submitting a report of findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation, by December 1, 2018.
