ATLANTA (January 25, 2018) | Sen. Matt Brass (R – Newnan) is pleased to announce that Tenaska Georgia Partners are currently accepting college scholarship applications from Heard County High School seniors seeking higher education.
“I am excited to see a local business give money to college-bound seniors,” said Sen. Brass. “College often brings about a financial burden on families. Seeing a company willing to give tomorrow’s leaders an opportunity to lessen their financial stress is truly inspiring. I look forward to seeing their scholarship recipients.”
Tenaska Georgia will select two college-bound seniors who demonstrate college preparedness, have good character and rank in the top 50 percent of their graduating class. They will award recipients with scholarships worth $1,500. Tenaska Georgia has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to Heard County High School seniors since 2002.
Georgia Partners was formed by Tenaska, who owns and operates the Tenaska Georgia Generating Station in Franklin, Georgia. The Tenaska Georgia Generating Station adds nearly $2.4 million in salaries and payments to local contractors and vendors into the area economy.
Sen. Brass comments, “Tenaska has proven time and time again to be a great corporate partner, willing to invest in our community, economically and educationally. Both of which are necessary to ensure growth and development in our region of the state.”
The deadline to submit applications is no later than February 15.
