ATLANTA (August 29, 2017) | Senator Josh McKoon (R – Columbus) released the following statement on the unveiling of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. statue on the State Capitol grounds in Atlanta:
“I am sorry I couldn’t be at the unveiling of the statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the State Capitol yesterday. Dr. King was a man of deep religious faith who allowed his beliefs to inspire a new generation of leaders in every aspect of his life. Those religious convictions allowed him to lead a nonviolent movement committed to ending racial injustice in America. May we always celebrate those who act because their faith compels them to do so.”

ATLANTA (August 29, 2017) | Sen. John Albers (R– Roswell) received a Legislator of the Year Award on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from the Georgia State Firefighters Association and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs for his work during the 2017 legislative session.
ATLANTA (August 28, 2017) | The first meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Barriers to Georgians’ Access to Adequate Healthcare will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in room 450 of the Georgia State Capitol.
ATLANTA (August 16, 2017) | Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, along with Sen. Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia), recently hosted the Georgia Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (GA CATT) where Colleges and Career Academies from four counties, including two in District 43, were recognized for their commitment to developing a prepared and educated workforce through their participation in the GA CATT program. Representatives from Newton County College and Career Academy, Rockdale Career Academy and industry partners were present as several students from their schools signed apprenticeship agreements.
