Statement by the Chairwoman of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Sen. Tonya Anderson on the Passing of Henry “Hank” Aaron

ATLANTA (January 29, 2021) | In response to the passing of baseball legend Henry “Hank” Aaron, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Chairwoman State Senator Tonya P. Anderson issues the following statement:


“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus is saddened about the passing of Henry “Hank” Aaron. We send our condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and all who were inspired by the greatness Hank displayed both on and off the baseball diamond.

Many know Hank from his hall of fame career and being the home run king for over three decades. We in Georgia know him also as a community and business leader who exemplified the best of what Atlanta and Georgia are.

Hank Aaron was born into Jim Crow segregation, but through talent and determination became a symbol of greatness all Americans can aspire for. We are honored to call you a fellow Georgian.”
