ATLANTA (January 16, 2020) | Senator Chuck Payne (R – Dalton) was recently appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve as Ex-Officio of the Senate Appropriations Committee for the 2020 Legislative Session.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Appropriations Committee and I thank Lt. Governor Duncan for this recognition,” said Sen. Payne. “This committee plays a vital role in the overall expansion of our great state. It ensures that agencies and departments are getting adequate funding, that resources are being maintained, and that as a whole, Georgia remains competitive in every area of growth. I look forward to working with all other members of the committee to serve Georgia’s best interests.”

In addition to serving as Ex-Officio of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Sen. Payne also serves as Secretary of the Finance, Higher Education, and State Institutions and Property committees, as well as Ex-Officio of the Public Safety Committee and Vice Chairman of the State and Local Governmental Operations Committee.
The Senate Appropriations Committee has general jurisdiction over state and federal funds. The committee is also in charge of the state’s budget and handles appropriations to government agencies, departments and organizations.
The second session of the 155th Georgia General Assembly convened on January 13, 2020, at the Georgia State Capitol.
