Senate Study Committee on People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Waiver Plan Access Holds Fourth Meeting at Tift Regional Medical Center

ATLANTA (October 21, 2022) | On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the Senate Study Committee on People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Waiver Plan Access held its fourth meeting at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, GA.

“We are extremely grateful to those that attended the meetings and provided public testimony. It’s clear from what we heard that the need to increase access to NOW and COMP waivers, ensure caregivers can take advantage of available resources, and quickly identify other ways we can support those with intellectual or developmental disabilities is at a crisis point,” said Sen. Harrell. “As Co-Chair of this study committee, my top priority is finding adequate solutions to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have all the necessary resources to live healthy, productive lives. We’re going to need the next Governor’s support.”

For those who were unable to attend today’s meeting, the recorded livestream can be found here.

The committee continues to encourage all interested parties to visit the committee’s website here to provide any feedback for the committee members to review, gather and consider before recommendations are made in preparation for the 2023 Legislative Session.

In addition, the public is also encouraged to submit written testimony to the committee using this form.
