ATLANTA (March 6, 2013) – The State Senate passes Senate Bill 225 to amend current criminal bonds law by a vote of 51-2. Sen. Jesse Stone (R-Waynesboro) sponsored this bill to update bond forfeiture provisions in existing Georgia’s code.
“I applaud the Senate for passing SB 225,” said Sen. Stone. “This legislation will encourage greater teamwork between bondsmen and law enforcement in bringing defendants who abscond back to court. It strikes a fair balance when defendants are located so as to avoid a total bond forfeiture. ”
SB 225 now travels to the House of Representatives.
