Senate Interstate Cooperation Committee Discussed American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

ATLANTA (May 12, 2021) | Today, Sen. Donzella James (D – Atlanta), Chairwoman of the Senate Interstate Cooperation Committee, held  a meeting to discuss the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, House Resolution 1319. HR 1319 is sponsored by Rep. John Yarmuth (KY – 3). This meeting was held to inform Georgians about the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and offer the people specifics about the resolution that will apply to them.

“Today, I feel honored to be a part of such a monumental moment,” said Sen. James. “I not only feel blessed to be a part of something that is so important for our country, but I am blessed to be at the Capitol today after my long battle with COVID-19. After battling the virus myself I see the toll that it can take on a person and that same effect has been felt throughout our country. This sixth relief bill was necessary for the country to recover from all of the hits it has endured during this pandemic. It is my job, as a legislator, to make sure that these funds are allocated properly and that is exactly why I am here today.”

The American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law on March 11, 2021 and Georgia will receive an estimate of $17.4 billion in assistance. It will provide emergency funding to help eradicate COVID-19 and to assist workers and families the resources they need to recover from the pandemic.
