Sen. Sonya Halpern Acknowledges Georgia Law Enforcement

ATLANTA (January 17, 2022) | Last week, Sen. Sonya Halpern (D – Atlanta) took a point of privilege to express appreciation and respect for Georgia law enforcement officers in recognition of Monday, January 9, 2023, as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

“Our law enforcement officers are the ones who keep us safe… every single day,” said Sen. Halpern.  “As legislators elected by our constituents to ensure public safety, we make the laws that we, in turn, require these brave men and women to enforce and for that we commend them with a public display of gratitude and appreciation.”

Sen. Halpern had the opportunity to ride along with the Georgia State Patrol and the Crime Suppression Unit. As a result, she has established the Arms Around Safety Club as a means of standing invitation for Senate members to join her in riding along with the Georgia State Patrol to gain insight and perspective into the daily lives of law enforcement officers.
