ATLANTA (January 13, 2023) | Yesterday, Sen. Shelly Echols (R – Gainesville) was appointed to serve as Chair of the Senate Committee on Reapportionment and Redistricting.
“I am truly honored to be appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones and the Senate Committee on Assignments to serve as Chair on the Senate Committee on Reapportionment and Redistricting,” said Sen. Echols. “Thank you to the Senate Committee on Assignments as well as Lt. Governor Burt Jones for entrusting me during my freshman session in the Georgia General Assembly.”
The Senate Committee on Reapportionment and Redistricting oversees the process of creating state and congressional district lines in accordance with the information from the United States Census. They work to ensure that all Georgians are given the proper political representation by their elected officials.
In addition to serving as Chair of the Senate Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee, Sen. Echols will serve as Ex-Officio of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs as well as a member of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth, Finance and Health and Human Services.
