ATLANTA (September 16, 2021) | Sen. Sheikh Rahman (D – Lawrenceville) has released the following statement regarding recent actions against the Hindu Community:
“Our nation is often referred to as a country of opportunity, an area where individuals from all over can come together to create a blend of cultural diversity. This uniqueness is part of what has shaped Georgia into the state it is today. Our successes are the result of those who have lent a helping hand and neighbors who have been able to lean on one another during tumultuous times. Over the past weekend, members of Forsyth County witnessed terrible acts against our Hindu community. This is unacceptable and no Georgian, no American, should ever feel unwelcome or unsafe in their own community. The United States allows for freedom of religious practice and these acts threaten that very tenet. I want those affected to know that I stand with, support and promise to continue to lift up our religious communities.”
