ATLANTA (February 8, 2017) | Sen. John Wilkinson (R – Toccoa) on Wednesday recognized the work of Georgia’s veterinarians and their dedication to the health and welfare of all animals with Senate Resolution 79, which recognizes February 8, 2017, as Veterinary Medicine Day at the Capitol.
“I am so proud to have the opportunity to honor our state’s veterinarians,” said Sen. Wilkinson. “They provide an invaluable service to Georgia’s families by keeping our four-legged loved ones happy and healthy. We are very fortunate the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia has the support it does and is able to produce such wonderful veterinarians.”
SR 79 commends Georgia’s veterinarians on their scientific knowledge and skills that are used to protect animal health, relieve animal suffering, conserve Georgia’s livestock resources, promote public health and advance medical knowledge.
Senator Wilkinson was joined by Georgia Veterinary Medical Association President Dr. Sarah Wheat; Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine President Dr. Henry Bohn; University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine’s Interim Dean Dr. Richard Keith Harris; Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Advocacy Committee Chairman Dr. Vince Obsitnik; and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Executive Director Susan Blevins.
