ATLANTA (September 18, 2013) – Senator Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) has been re-elected Vice Chair of the Economic Development, Transportation and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC). Elections were held at the 67th Annual Meeting of the SLC in Mobile, AL; where over 1,000 legislators, staff and guests gathered to foster cooperation and share best practices among its member states.
“I greatly appreciate the efforts of the SLC to facilitate discussions about economic growth and infrastructure, because these open dialogues strengthen individual states and also our nation as a whole. I am honored to be re-elected to this leadership role and will continue to encourage these cooperative relationships between the 15 member states of the SLC,” said Senator Mullis.
Senator Mullis was first elected as Vice Chair of the Economic Development, Transportation and Cultural Affairs Committee in 2012. The committee is one of six SLC standing committees.
The Southern Legislative Conference of The Council of State Governments was established in 1947 and is composed of the presiding officers and key legislators from 15 southern states. The SLC is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization located in Atlanta.
