Sen. Jack Hill Welcomes Elder Mike Newman to the Georgia Senate

ATLANTA (March 3, 2018) | Sen. Jack Hill (R – Reidsville) welcomed Elder Mike Newman, Pastor of Metter Primitive Baptist Church in Metter, GA, as Chaplain of the Day on Thursday, March 1, 2018, in the Georgia Senate.

“It was my pleasure to welcome Pastor Newman to share his words of prayer and wisdom with the Senate” said Sen. Hill. “He has a gift for serving people and brings a feeling of love and commitment whenever he shares the gospel.”

Pastor Newman has served at Metter Primitive Baptist Church for the last seven years along with serving as the Chaplain for the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to joining the Metter community, he served in churches in Jacksonville, FL, Thomaston, GA and Bulloch County, GA. In addition to his commitment to the church, Pastor Newman served the state of Georgia and the United States for 21 years as a member of the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard, where he obtained the rank of Master Sergeant. He and his wife Kathy have two children and six grandchildren.
