ATLANTA (January 15, 2015) | As one of his first acts as state senator, Senator Harold Jones II (D-Augusta) is co-sponsoring a bill that would increase the state’s minimum wage.
Senate Bill 15 would increase the state’s minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. The bill would also provide for an annual increase in the minimum wage to match any increase in the cost of living.
The state’s current minimum wage is $5.15 per hour.
“Hardworking people deserve to be paid a fair wage,” said Sen. Jones. “With rising prices, the current minimum wage is not enough.”
The bill has been referred to the Senate Insurance and Labor committee.
