Sen. Harold Jones II Appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp to Broadband Infrastructure Committee

ATLANTA (June 30, 2021) | Yesterday, Gov. Brian Kemp released the list of appointments for the Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees, which will be tasked with reviewing applications and advising the Governor on American Rescue Plan funds allocated for Georgia. Sen. Harold Jones II (D – Augusta) was appointed to serve on the Broadband Infrastructure Committee.

“The American Rescue Plan Act represents one of the biggest relief packages made available to local governments, nonprofits and industries that our state has ever experienced,” said Sen. Jones. “I feel privileged to have a seat at the table to help determine how best to allocate these vital funds to improve broadband infrastructure state-wide, but especially in our rural communities. I look forward to working with Gov. Kemp and my fellow committee members to ensure that these funds are distributed in a fair and just manner.”

The Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees will receive applications beginning August 1, 2021, at opb.georgia.gov. Applications will close on August 31, 2021, and grants are targeted to be announced the week of October 18, 2021. These dates are subject to change as guidance from the U.S. Department of the Treasury continues to evolve.
