ATLANTA (August 14, 2019) | Today, Sen. Gloria Butler (D – Stone Mountain) released the following statement on the level three lockdown at Stephenson High School in DeKalb County that was prompted by a gun scare:
First and foremost, I want to thank the coordinated response and swift action by the DeKalb County Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, Marshall’s Office, DeKalb County School District, Stephenson High School Resource Officers and all agencies involved in handling this situation. They were able to work together to ensure the safety of our students, staff and faculty, and to diffuse the situation rapidly. I am also grateful for the quick action and mindfulness of our students and teachers who were prepared and followed procedure in this event. It is incredibly important to stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings as we return to school.
