Sen. Bruce Thompson Recognizes Health Information Technology Day at the Capitol

ATLANTA (January 25, 2018) | Sen. Bruce Thompson (R – White) recognized January 25, 2018 as Health Information Technology Day at the state Capitol with Senate Resolution 604.

“Sometimes the capability of technology doesn’t get all of the positive recognition it deserves,” said Sen. Thompson. “While everyone is well aware that technology is growing at such a rapid pace and is widely used around the world, we sometimes forget to credit it for keeping up with some of the most important documents we have. Documents pertaining to our health encompass some of our most confidential information and I believe it is important to not only recognize the technology that stores this information, but also the people behind the screens working hard to maintain Georgia’s management of this information.”

SR 604 applauds Georgia’s computerized systems for managing and securing information of consumers. This resolution also highlights Georgia leading the nation with around 30,000 employees that address the services offered to patients. Metro-Atlanta and the state of Georgia have also received other recognitions for its healthcare information technology. Sen. Thompson and members of the Senate hope to continue the growth of Georgia’s health information technology sector as the state continues its upward path in development.
