Sen. Bruce Thompson Announces Senate Study Committee Website

ATLANTA (August 12, 2019) | Sen. Bruce Thompson (R – White) recently announced the launch of the Senate Athletic Association Study Committee website that will serve as a one-stop-shop for meeting information and supporting documents.

“I encourage citizens around the state to review the website and contact my office with any feedback,” said Sen. Thompson. “Members of this study committee need your help to fully understand GHSA’s interactions with the public. There are many stories across our state that have not been heard, and this website will provide the opportunity for you to speak out. Please contact us to share your experiences.”

The Senate Athletic Association Study Committee was created by the passage of Senate Resolution 304 during the 2019 Legislative Session and has five members: Chairman Sen. Bruce Thompson, Sen. Lester Jackson (D – Savannah), Sen. Chuck Payne (R – Dalton), Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) and Sen. Zahra Karinshak (D – Duluth). The study committee members will review funding for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and the current structure of interscholastic athletic events to recommend action or legislation the committee believes to be necessary. The committee must report its findings on or before December 1, 2019.
