ATLANTA (October 10, 2019) | Sen. Brian Strickland (R – McDonough) congratulates Henry County Chief Superior Court Judge Brian J. Amero on his appointment by Gov. Brian P. Kemp to the Georgia Behavioral Health Reform and Innovation Commission.
“This Commission will play a key role with Georgia overhauling the way we address mental health in our state,” said Sen. Strickland. “Judge Amero has already been leading the way with the Superior Court Judges Council on addressing the mental health crisis we have in our criminal justice system and will be a great asset to the Commission and the Legislature as we look to address mental health issues across the board in our state. It is great to see another Henry County citizen taking a leadership role at the state level and for our leaders to continue to be utilized when it comes to moving Georgia forward.”
The Georgia Behavioral Health Reform & Innovation Commission was created through the passage of House Bill 514 during the 2019 Legislative Session. As stated in the legislation, the commission is composed of 24 members and will be responsible for “conducting a comprehensive review of the behavioral health system in Georgia.”
