ATLANTA (August 18, 2020) | Last week, Sen. Brandon Beach (R – Alpharetta) was appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Senate Coin Operated Amusement Machine (COAM) Study Committee.
“COAMs play an important role in the Georgia Lottery’s infrastructure and are responsible for contributing funds to important higher education initiatives, such as the HOPE Scholarship,” said Sen. Beach. “However, we need to ensure that current licensing practices are being followed and that Georgians are participating responsibly. I look forward to working with Chairman Kennedy and the other members of this important committee to look into this issue further and, if necessary, prepare legislation in advance of the 2021 Legislative Session.”
The Senate COAM Study Committee was established through the passage of Senate Resolution 1024, adopted during the 2020 Legislative Session. The committee will be tasked with studying the current regulations of COAMs and oversight provided by the Georgia Lottery.
