ATLANTA (July 19, 2019) | Yesterday, Sen. Ben Watson (R – Savannah) participated in the Department of Community Health’s Stakeholder Kickoff Meeting for the 1115 and 1332 Waivers. These waivers were made available to be applied for by Senate Bill 106, also known as the Patients First Act, which was passed in the 2019 Legislative Session and signed by Governor Brian P. Kemp on March 27, 2019.
“I was honored to be asked to participate in this kickoff meeting and learn more about what the Department of Community Health has found over the past several month in regards to the healthcare climate in Georgia,” said Sen. Watson. “This meeting and others will help answer stakeholder’s questions about the specifics of the waivers and allow the public to see what positive benefits these waivers can and will have on access to care in our state.”
According to the Department of Community Health, the meeting convened a group of stakeholders to engage throughout the waiver development process as changes to the Medicaid program are considered, and discuss the first phase of the project including key findings from the environmental scans.
