ATLANTA (February 8, 2012) – Sen. Barry Loudermilk (R-Cassville) honored Alex and Stephen Kendrick in the Senate Chamber yesterday with Senate Resolution 800. The brothers are the filmmakers behind the feature-length motion picture Courageous.
“It was an absolute honor to recognize the film Courageous and Sherwood Pictures for using movies to spread the gospel,” said Sen. Loudermilk. “The message and quality of the film is extraordinary and I recommend it to my fellow colleagues and Georgians.”
“We are very gracious for the House and Senate support and affirmation in the movie ministry industry,” said director Alex Kendrick. “We are also very proud to do this all within the great state of Georgia.”
Alex Kendrick founded Sherwood Pictures, a Christian film production company, in 2002. The company is located in Albany, Ga. and most of its cast and crew are volunteers from the church and the community. Sherwood Pictures is best known for their 2006 film Facing the Giants; Fireproof, the highest-grossing independent film of 2008; and now Courageous, which was the number one top selling DVD in North America last week.
