Resolution to Dedicate Memorial Highways in District 51 Passes Georgia State Senate

ATLANTA (March 7, 2013) –Senate Resolution 293 was adopted today by a vote of 46 to 0 by the Georgia State Senate. Sponsored by Sen. Steve Gooch (R – Dahlonega), this bill dedicates two District 51 road infrastructures as the Ralph A. Pierce Memorial Highway and the Judge William Jeffrey Lowe intersection as part of Georgia’s memorial highway system.

“I am truly grateful for the adoption of this resolution,” said Sen. Steve Gooch. “Selfless citizens like Ralph A. Pierce and Jeffrey Lowe should be recognized and celebrated for their commitment and sacrifices to the community. Ralph Pierce was Lumpkin County’s oldest living veteran, and Jeffrey Lowe served many years as in public office as the chief magistrate judge. I am proud that my district will honor and remember their service for years to come through the dedication of these roadways.”

SR 293 honors several men and women who devoted themselves to community improvement efforts and events. The following roadways in District 51 have been dedicated as follows:

The portion of GA-52 in Lumpkin County from GA-115 to the Hall County line is dedicated as the Ralph A. Pierce Memorial Highway.

The intersection of U.S. Highway 19 and Cavender Creek Road in Lumpkin County is dedicated as the Judge William Jeffrey Lowe Memorial Intersection.
